Stop and Be Thankful

Give ThanksI recently read a note from an English man on Thanksgiving… His thoughts really sparked my curiosity. He said a lot of times “The idea of being thankful for prospering after having taken a giant leap into the unknown (as the Pilgrims did) just doesn’t fit a society which is more guided by the social placement of Downton Abbey…”

His thoughts got me thinking…are weam Iare you – thankful for prospering after taking a giant leap into the unknown? Are we taking the time to be thankful for success before we move on to the next goal to reach? Do we even really take the time to consider what we are thankful for?

If we are honest, thankfulness can even get lost during the season of Thanksgiving; it’s so easy to get distracted by “getting everything done” before the holidays and figuring out travel plans that we forget to stop and remember all we have to be thankful for.

Here at Coaching Right Now, we want to promote thankfulness this season.

Over the last few months, we’ve introduced you to some of the awesome coaches we work with. We think it’s time to introduce you to our leadership team, too!

To give you a little flavor of who we are… we have all included something we’re thankful for.

Stop and Refocus

PHD ComicsDo you feel it yet? I do.

The holidays are so close and yet so far away. They are close enough where the bit of cold weather (or snow) is almost exciting. But far enough away that the routine of every day is still mundane.

The next two months are filled with excitement and family celebrations along with pressure and deadlines.

Sometimes it feels overwhelming to manage it all.

So when you are having one of those days when the deadline feels all too close, your direct report needed to have that conversation with you, and it feels like there just isn’t time to get is all done, here are a couple of suggestions.

For just a few minutes.

Get up.

Take a walk.

Go get a cup of coffee.

Look out the window.

Remember why you do what you do.

Picture the celebration of the season.

Remember the feelings of accomplishment you’ve had before.

Know that you will get it all done.

Sometimes taking a 5 minute break from all the pressure can create the mental space we need to get the job done!

Passion and Inspiration

You know those people who are so passionate about what they do that you can’t help but get excited about what they do too?

Coaching Right Now, had the privilege to tour the Golden City Brewery, this past week, during their yearly offsite in Golden, CO.

The passion of the head brew master (Mike) and Marketing Director (Derek) were inspiring, to say in the least. The team shared about how to brew, all the intricacies, and why they love to do what they do.

People like Mike and Derek inspire us all. They know what they love to do. Their love and passion for what they do can’t help but ooze out of them. And, when you are around them, you can’t help but be passionate too.

So, what are you passionate about?

We would love to hear!

A Teamwork Twist

I don’t know about you but after watching that video I want to (drink a coke and) work together with someone to accomplish something!

Having great teamwork and problem solving together is an art.

There has to be a common cause that people are rallying around… and it can be as simple as opening a coke bottle!

What is your team rallying around? What are you going after or trying to accomplish?

Today, think about how you can share that common vision to bring your team together!
